As you may have heard, the fabulous and talented knitwear designer Kristin Nicholas is coming to spend the day at A Loom with a View on Saturday April 28. But you may not have heard she's offering a different afternoon class, called The Edge of Color, where you'll learn how to create wonderful edges on your knitted items. Mitered corners, fringes and a wide variety of decorative edges will be demonstrated and taught and you'll leave with a hefty hand out covering the details for 20 different edgings. The class will take place from 1-4pm and is sure to be fun and inspiring. Get all the details here and don't wait too long to decide...space is very limited!
Get ready for four fun-filled days as the North of Boston Yarn Crawl kicks off this Thursday. We have so much fun planned we will be open earlier every day (9am on Thursday/Friday/Saturday and 10am on Sunday) and we'll be staying open until 6pm on Friday and Saturday. During the Crawl, we'll be hosting a Knitbot trunk show from the designing mind of Hannah Fettig (co-author of Coastal Knits). On Friday Amy Small from Knit Collage will be having a yarn tasting at the store. And on Sunday we'll be demonstrating weaving on a triangle loom (easy and fun!) Don't miss our special Yarn Crawl discounts and our door prizes from Blue Sky Alpaca, Berroco, Clover, Brown Sheep, Shibui, Classic Elite and many others. And we have a great grand prize too...a day with Kristin Nicholas including two classes and lunch. So come, bring your friends, and join the crawl. Here's the map, but do plan to start with us first!
We are thrilled to annouce that Kristin Nicholas -- well known knitwear designer and author of Kristin Knits and Color by Kristin -- will be offering two workshops at the store on Saturday April 28. You can sign up for both classes, with a catered lunch, one class, or just lunch. Get all the information here, but don't take too long decide, space is very limited!

So if you're looking for the perfect yarn for knitting, felting, crocheting or weaving, we have it. And we're happy about it!
Please join us on Saturday January 7 from 2-4PM as we host Hannah Fettig, co-author of the new (and luscious) Coastal Knits. She'll sign books, show off many of the lovely designs -- we have the trunk show in the store right now -- and talk about what it was like to do bi-coastal design work. You may know Ms. Fettig from her blog, knitbot, and once you see the designs, wow...you'll be in love. We are! So grab a friend or two and come join us for a fun afternoon.
For Newburyport's Second Invitation Night, we'll be hosting some of our favorite people, who also happen to be artists and our teachers. Please plan to come by, bring a friend or two and enjoy what is sure to be a festive and fun evening.

A few weeks ago, we looked at the calendar and realized it was time. You know, *that* time. So we decided to make things easy on everyone and pull our favorite fast and fun projects together in one place. But if you don't get our email newsletter (which of course you should, see below to subscribe!), you're missing all this collective wisdom (and some fab free patterns). Without further ado, find our favorite items for keeping warm here, our most fun with felting here, and the best and fastest hats/headbands here. Also tucked in among this good advice are relevant knitting tips and great gift ideas for the knitters and weavers among us. And while the newsletters give you the cream of the crop, we have loads more samples, ideas and patterns in the shop. Yes, it's *that* time but with our help it might even be enjoyable this year!
The Magic Happens class offers a sleight of hand -- the weaving of a scarf with differential shrinkage using alpaca/wool and bamboo. The method is known as Cram and Space. The result is a scarf with enchantingly framed felted squares throughout! This 5 session class begins November 15 and will be taught by Margaret Russell. For more information, see our classes page.
